  1. PROCESSING THE ARTWORK

  3. {[0,0,1]>>} Remember that Stereopticon will accept only certain picture formats and
  4. palettes.  See {[A07,0,7]PREPARING THE ARTWORK}.

  6. After you click the OK button in the main interface panel, a {[A19,0,7]file requester}
  7. will appear.  Use it to find the IFF picture file for the plane farthest in
  8. the background.  Click on the file name, then click the OK button.  The
  9. requester will disappear, and the picture will load.
  10.  
  11. A small panel will appear at the bottom of the screen with a reminder of the
  12. program contents and the current action ("Grab Plane A").  You can move the
  13. panel up or down with the mouse or make it disappear or reappear by pressing
  14. the H (hide) key.
  15.  
  16. The panel has two buttons.  The ABORT button (ESC key) will stop the process
  17. and return you to the main interface panel.  The ALL button (RETURN key)
  18. will grab the entire picture for the current plane.  
  19.  
  20. If you want to speed up the process by grabbing only part of the picture,
  21. use the mouse to move the angle tool to the upper-left corner of the part
  22. you want.  Hold down the left mouse key (the angle tool will reverse) and
  23. draw a box down to the lower-right corner.  Then release the mouse key.

  25. If you make a mistake, just grab another box.  {[0,0,1]>>} The selection won't be
  26. final until you've drawn a valid box and you press the RIGHT mouse key.

  28. Then the file requester will reappear.  Grab the remaining planes in the
  29. same way.

  31. Once all the planes have been loaded, Stereopticon will take over until your
  32. picture is ready for saving.  Click the ABORT button or press ESC to abort
  33. the process.  A bell will sound when the picture is complete.  If you have
  34. something else to do with your Amiga in the meanwhile, press LEFT-AMIGA-A to
  35. multitask.  You'll still hear the bell, but it will be muffled.

  37. Smaller planes will of course be processed more quickly, and planes with
  38. large areas of the background color will also take less time.  The plane
  39. farthest in the background doesn't need to be overlaid.  Plane J, which
  40. requires no actual offsetting, must undergo the offsetting process to ensure
  41. its palette is correct, but is overlaid instantly (unless the translucent
  42. option has been selected).

  44. The example picture {[P04,4,7] "Space Junk" } (six planes) took twelve minutes to process
  45. on the slowest Amiga.  The eight interlaced planes of {[P07,4,7] "Open Window" } took 28
  46. minutes.

  48. When the Stereoptic picture is ready to save, the file requester will appear
  49. once again.  If you want to look at your picture, you can drag the requester
  50. down out of the way by clicking on its top bar.  Choose a location and name
  51. for your picture and click OK.
